Welcome to the
Bromfield Music  Website!

Ms. Armitage and Mr. Robbins are so pleased to see the greater music program growing! We encourage you and your students to look into our course offerings and be as active in our department as you'd like to be. If you're looking to get involved as a parent/community member, please consider joining our music booster organization Fanfare! for Music. For your ease, their website has been linked here.

THANK YOU AND GIVING!

PIANOS & Fanfare! for Music

To all families and community members who have donated to Fanfare! for Music's piano capital campaign project, we are extremely grateful for your assistance in helping update our keyboard inventory across the district. Our renovated '31 Steinway M, which had been housed in the Harvard Town Hall for many years, is proudly being played in many of our classes and performances! Thank you for helping continue to see our collective visions through!

Please consider visiting Fanfare! for Music's website to find out more about how families or individuals can get involved in helping support and advocate for our music program!

About Our School & Program

The Bromfield School, located west of Boston in Harvard, MA, is one of the leading public middle-high schools of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and is fortunate to have an active and thriving music department with many varieties of activities suited to what students choose to enroll in or study.

The Music Department offers courses from Music Theory to Jazz and Improvisation, as well as traditional ensemble groups such as chorus and wind ensemble. The Music Department holds several concerts in one school year by different age groups and skill level, and talents are synthesized and the overall synergy is incorporated to make music what it represents and symbolizes in the students' high school careers.

The Music Department fosters and encourages growth in music through participation in annual festivals and competitions such as the New England Music Festival (NEMFA), Central District Massachusetts Music Educators Association (CDMMEA) junior level and senior level competitions, and the Sousa National Honors Band. Over the years, increasing number of students have demonstrated interest in these programs and participation grows with every year. Students may also occasionally initiate their own goals and priorities, and participate in other events as well.

Currently, The Bromfield School music program consists of the high school Concert Choir, Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble, Grade Seven and Eight Chorus and Symphonic Band, Grade Six Chorus and Concert Band, Grade 5 Beginners’ Band, Music Theory, and Grade 6 and Grade 7 Experiences in Music.

Many students have been selected to represent The Bromfield School at All State, Central District, New England Music Festival, John Philip Sousa National Honors Bands and other regional concerts and festivals. Our musicians are consistently selected for world-renowned ensembles such as the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra (BYSO), New England Conservatory (NEC) Youth Orchestras, and the Boston Youth Philharmonic Orchestra (BPYO). Bromfield groups have performed in Florida, Vermont, Virginia, Ontario, and Nova Scotia as well as here in Massachusetts.
